Joseph Goebbels, the Minister of Propaganda of the Empire, wrote the following words in his diary:
“May 18, 1942. In the south of Briansk region, the Hungarian forces are fighting. They need to occupy and pacify one village after another. When Hungarians say that they have pacified one village, this usually means that there is not a single resident left alive.”
Honved (or the private) Ferenc Boldijar (company 46 / 1.2., Field postal 115/20) described one of these „acts”:
„When we went into the village, I set fire to the first three houses. We killed men, women, children, the village was burnt. Than we moved further … Our magnificent hussars set fire to the village, while the third company set fire with signal rockets. During the time that we spent in the reconnaissance mission, the hussars burned six villages … „
